At the end of July, Sewan Belgium, became Proximus MNVO. Proximus is the first Belgian mobile operator to offer its customers the 5G experience in Belgium (March 2020). Sewan Belgium will propose B2B mobile offers to its partners, within a few months.
Today, 5G is the answer on the growing number of devices simultaneously used (smartphones, tablets, connected watches…). 5G is a real revolution, to absorb the vast amount of data consumed every day (music, videos, games…). It gives all devices and users an ultra-high-bandwidth with a very low delay, ready for the next generation.
Proximus has already installed several 5G antennas across the country. The Sewan team had the pleasure to test this new 5G network, in the surroundings of Zaventem. To do so, a 5G-compatible phone was used, an “Oppo Find X2 Pro 5G”.
The result of the tests are impressive. High bandwidth, low latency! Speedtest.net reported over 450 Mbps in download, well above 50 times faster current 4G speeds, which typically has a download speed lower than 10 Mbps.
In upload, the difference of the spéeed test is more modest, the rate is still multiplied by 3, going from 8 Mbps to more than 25 Mbps.
The national 5G coverage continues to be gradually deployed and improved, and this first test predicts a bright technological and hyper-connected future for Sewan and its three main product families: communicate/connect/host!
